ZEISS recently announced ZEISS Supreme Prime Radiance lenses which offer a unique T* blue coating to provide gorgeous controllable flares. These high-end cine lenses consist of 7 focal lengths ranging from 21mm to 100m and all of them boast a maximum aperture of T1.5. Due to the new coating from ZEISS, the new Radiance lenses allow users to control flares without losing any contrast or sharpness.
These new lenses are based on ZEISS Supreme Prime lenses and offer similar features with added benefits. Due to the 46.3mm image circle diameter, ZEISS Supreme Prime Radiance lenses are compatible with the latest camera models such as Sony Venice, ARRI Alexa LF, and Mini LF and RED Monstro.
Since these lenses incorporate ZEISS eXtended Data metadata technology, users can obtain detailed frame by frame data that is extremely helpful in post-production workflows. In VFX tasks, guesswork takes substantial time to achieve a certain goal. But with the help of detailed frame by frame analysis on lens vignetting, distortion, and other standard metadata, professionals can work effectively which helps them to focus more on creative aspects.
ZEISS Supreme Prime Radiance Lenses come in the following focal lengths:
- 21 mm T1.5
- 25 mm T1.5
- 29 mm T1.5
- 35 mm T1.5
- 50 mm T1.5
- 85 mm T1.5
- 100mm T1.5
ZEISS on T*Blue Coating
The ZEISS Supreme Prime Radiance lenses enable cinematographers to create beautiful and consistent flares but with one key ability – control. This is made possible by our newly developed lens coating T* blue. Under regular lighting, Supreme Prime Radiance render like modern and versatile cinematography lenses. With appropriate lighting however, the lenses start to flare. Cinematographers can decide and plan when they want to create flares rather than relying on unforeseen effects. Overall, Supreme Prime Radiance are a touch warmer than Supreme Primes but still retain all the other features that one might have experienced from using the regular Supreme Prime lenses.
ZEISS
The set of ZEISS Supreme Prime Radiance Lenses cost $170,000 USD. Since these lenses will ship in limited quantities, ZEISS will only accept orders until March 31, 2020. However, the shipments will begin after April 2020.
