Tokina just unveiled a new atx-i 100mm F2.8 FF MACRO lens for Canon EF and Nikon F mount Full Frame DSLR cameras. This lens features better quality and performance compared to the AT-X M100 PRO D model. With two aspherical and two super-low dispersion glass elements, this lens reduces spherical aberrations that result in better contrast and sharpness. Although Tokina atx-i 100mm f2.8 FF Macro lens is made for full-frame cameras, it is also optimized for APS-C DSLR cameras.
This new 100mm macro lens from Tokina is capable of 1:1 reproduction at 30 cm. Along with macro, this lens can also produce impressive results in landscape and portrait photography. Since it incorporates a 9 bladed diaphragm, you will get beautiful circular shaped bokeh highlights. Tokina says that this atx-i 100mm f2.8 FF macro lens is capable of providing a pleasing bokeh with a focal length up to f/5.6.
To avoid autofocus hunting, this macro lens comes with a focus range limiter. This reduces the unnecessary time that you can utilize in the creative aspects. You can find the focus range limiter switch on the side of the lens. Additionally, the One-touch focus Clutch mechanism helps to switch between autofocus and manual focus right at the moment. This Tokina atx-i 100mm macro lens supports the same direction of the manual focusing ring as Nikon and Canon lenses.
Tokina atx-i 100mm F2.8 FF MACRO Lens promises low fall off at all focal lengths which eliminate corner vignetting issues. Photographers and videographers will admire the color reproduction, resolution, and sharpness that this lens provides.
This 100mm full-frame lens equals 150mm focal length on Nikon APS-C cameras whereas on Canon APS-C cameras, it is equivalent to 160mm. So if you’re shooting Macro with this lens using an APS-C DSLR, you can achieve even more magnification. It supports a 55mm filter size that extends but does not rotate while focusing. As a benefit, you can use polarizers without having to worry about the rotation.
Tokina atx-i 100mm F2.8 FF MACRO Lens will start shipping from December 6, 2019, both the variants cost $429 USD. The Nikon F mount model weighs 515g where the Canon EF mount model weighs 525g.
