Sigma just announced a new 24-70mm f/2.8 DG DN Art zoom lens for Sony-E and Leica-L mount full-frame mirrorless cameras. This is the second zoom lens in the lineup following 17-24mm. With Six F Low Dispersion (FLD) and two Special Low Dispersion (SLD), this lens promises minimal aberrations. As a result, you will get a color-accurate image with impressive sharpness.
This 24-70mm zoom lens from Sigma incorporates a programmable AF-L button so you can manipulate your shooting settings according to your needs. It also includes an AF/MF switch. Sometimes you might extend the lens barrel more than you need, the zoom lock switch prevents such things from happening.
With f/2.8 constant aperture, you can capture enough light even at low lighting situations. Another benefit of f/2.8 is the shallow depth of field. The 11 rounded blade diaphragm is capable of producing flattering bokeh. The autofocus performance is both fast and silent, thanks to the stepping AF motor.
A NanoPorous Coating on this Sigma f/2.8 DG DN zoom lens helps in reducing lens flares and ghosting effects. This will allow you to face the lens against the direction of the sun without worrying about annoying flares destroying image contrasts. This lens comes with Brass bayonet with a rubber sealing on the mount which prevents dust particles from entering into the system. Since the design is weather-sealed, photographers can even take this lens into harsh conditions.
Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 DG DN Art zoom lens is designed to work with full frame mirrorless cameras, but that doesn’t mean you’re just limited to that format. You can also use this lens with APS-C format cameras. In that case, the focal length of 24-70mm will be equivalent to 36-105mm.
