3 Legged Thing, a British tripod manufacturing company just introduced its new product lineup, the Legends Range. This lineup consists of three products, two of which are tripods (Jay and Mike) whereas the other one is a Tripod Video Head (AirHed Cine). Jay and Mike are the first 3 Legged Thing’s levelling-base as well as hybrid photo/video tripods. The main idea behind this Legends range is to provide products with lower weight and increased load-to-weight ratio without any compromise in quality. Additionally, these products promise maximum versatility, strength as well as build quality.
Mike and Jay Tripods from Legends Range
Both of these tripods from Legends range share similar features, however, the difference is that Mike is a full-sized carbon fibre tripod whereas Jay comes with shorter legs but offers more sections. In terms of build quality, Mike and Jay features 8 layers of 100% pure Japanese carbon fibre, and aerospace-grade, anodised magnesium alloy construction.
All the three tripod legs are detachable so you can use them as monopods and boom arms as well. Moreover, you can also use these 3 Legged Legends Tripods on table-tops or ground levels by joining 3LT’s tripod footwear to the leg hinges. Each of the legs can be adjusted at three angles.
With Legends Mike and Jay tripods, you can swiftly do setups, thanks to the new Rapid Latch mechanism. It is a hardwearing anodised mag-alloy latch with auto-engage lock and works great even if you’re wearing thick gloves. As a result, you can adjust the legs in a matter of seconds. The new raised O-Pads for leg locks helps to achieve better grip and water dissipation. Also, the locks benefit from the internal Chicken Lips (shims) design providing even greater strength.
3 Legged Thing also included removable rubber Bootz along with the Legends tripods Mike and Jay. Both these tripods support levelling base that incorporates friction control to fine-tune the adjustments.
AirHed Cine
AirHed Cine is a tripod video head from Legends Range that features adjustable, fluid motion, tilt mechanism. A panning arm also comes along with this video head which you can fit on either left or right side. AirHed Cine boasts an aerospace-grade magnesium alloy construction. To mount external accessories, it includes a 1/4″-20 screw thread. This tripod video head comes with a standard video clamp and plate but you also have the option to go with an Arca-Swiss compatible clamp and plate.
