Kinefinity has unveiled a new large-format cine camera (Mavo Edge) that shoots 8K RAW (full-frame) internally up to 75 fps featuring brand new CMOS image sensor, powerful upgraded processor, new carbon fiber body, internal motorized e-ND filter, & so much more. Shooting at 6K/4K Wide resolutions with this camera will provide even higher frame rates up to 100/160 fps respectively. Featuring 800/3200 dual native ISO, the new Kinefinity Mavo Edge offers up to 14+ stops of dynamic range. Since shooting high bitrate RAW and that too at 8K resolution is quite taxing, Kinefinity chose to equip dual SSD media slots in Mavo Edge supporting PCIe 3.0 NVMe M.2 interface.

New Design and Body
Mavo Edge is the first-ever Kinefinity camera to feature a built-in motorized full-spectrum e-ND (electronic ND) filter system. This e-ND filter is capable of covering a wide range from 2 stops to 7 stops with continuous adjustment and high precision. The camera also features a brand new carbon fiber body that contributes to lighter camera weight.
Inside the body, the camera hosts a gyroscope that records positional data of the camera movement. VFX artists know how important this feature could be for tracking purposes.
High Bitrate 8K Resolution with RAW Support
Featuring a new large-format 8K CMOS image sensor along with an improved image processor, the new Kinefinity Mavo Edge boasts the ability to shoot high-bitrate 8K RAW video internally up to a frame rate of 75 fps. Shooting videos at 6K and 4K resolutions will provide even higher frame rates up to 100 fps and 160 fps respectively.
Mavo Edge also supports oversampling in full-frame mode to output 6k or 4k footage. As a huge benefit, the video looks sharper, less noisy, and achieves even higher dynamic range.
Since high-bitrate 8K RAW video recording demands enormous storage space & puts a lot of pressure on camera and workstation, the new Kinefinity Mavo Edge features Apple ProRes RAW codec that is both lossless and efficient as well. This format allows the camera to preserve enough color information for extreme post-production.
Additionally, Mavo Edge can also record H264 proxy files alongside ProRes on separate SSDs simultaneously. So if your computer system is not strong enough to handle large 8K files, you can work with the smaller proxy files and later relink them with the high-resolution version.
Blazing Fast Dual SSD Media Slots
Due to the dual-slot SSD design, the new Kinefinity Mavo Edge is able to capture the same clip simultaneously in both drives with RAID 1 configuration. Or as mentioned above, you can record the main codec and H264 proxies separately for faster editing workflow. The SSDs in Mavo Edge offer blazing fast speeds, thanks to the upgraded PCIe 3.0 NVME M.2 interface. The camera also allows users to install third-party SSDs on their own.
Kinefinity in collaboration with Movcam came up with a dedicated KineKIT for Mavo Edge that features a 15mm base plate with UPS function. Two NP-F550 batteries accompany the UPS. The innovative baseplate allows users to replace the V-mount/BP-U30 batteries without interrupting the power of the camera.
