Although Profoto A1X already supported Sony, Nikon, and Canon cameras, there was no support for the Fujifilm platform until now. With the release of Profoto A1X AirTTL-F, photographers owning Fujifilm cameras can finally benefit from this compact and powerful on-camera flash light.
Profoto A1X vs A1
Compared to Profoto A1, A1X is capable of emitting 450 full-power flashes on a single charge instead of 350 on A1. The recycling time in A1X is also shorter with 1 second whereas A1 takes 1.2s. The difference in numbers may seem small but it has a great impact on the workflow. Additionally, Profoto A1X supports 20 wireless channels against 8 in A1 to ensure even robust signal strength.
Features of A1X
Profoto A1X comes with a 2.75″ round head that provides a smooth fall off. The head can also tilt and rotate as well so you can adjust the light angle as you want. To control the light wirelessly, you can use the Air Remote wireless controllers that you can trigger from distance up to 1000 feet via Normal sync. For TTL and HSS functionality, A1X supports a maximum distance of 330 ft.
In order to get a preview of lighting results on to the subject, Profoto A1X incorporates a 76W LED modeling light inside the round head. Because of this, you can save a lot of time instead of doing countless experimentations. You can even control the focal range of the light from 32mm to 105mm via built-in motor-zoom. If you want to go even wider than 32mm, you can use a wide-angle adapter to get a focal length up to 14mm.
It takes 115 minutes to charge Profoto A1X AirTTL from 0-100%. Until the power goes out, this studio light runs at peak performance to avoid inconsistency in results. The included Li-Ion battery is both rechargeable and swappable.
Just like Profoto B10, A1X comes with a white on black LCD interface providing information about all the essential parameters.
Along with this studio light, you get the following accessories as well:
- Bounce Card
- Dome Diffuser
- Flash Stand
- Nylon Bag
- Shoulder Strap
Pricing
This Profoto A1X AirTTL-F studio light for Fujifilm Cameras costs $1,095 just like other A1X models for Canon, Sony, and Nikon.
